Andrew Wrigley

I heard the news this afternoon that Andrew Wrigley had died.

Mr. Wrigley was my first form tutor at secondary school, as well as teaching us Maths. I can’t begin to explain what a difference it made, having him there. Year 7 can be scary, especially when you’re going to a school other people avoided for being too ‘rough’. But it wasn’t. It was warm and friendly, because that man cared about every child in his classroom, and had both the authority and the decency to give us all confidence in him.
