BT Broadband to increase to 2MB at no extra cost.
This is exactly the kind of news I want to come home to! The existing 15GB download cap will remain, but that really won’t be an issue for us at the moment. I just want speed! Mmmmm…broadband.
Daily shout out: Today’s post is dedicated to Oya, because she asked me first.
My web host (Me2uWeb) is on a bit of a roll recently. They’ve just upgraded the standard webmail programs available through Cpanel with a new version of Horde and the addition of Squirrelmail which hasn’t been offered in the past.
Having a good webmail option is important to me – although I use Outlook 2003 at home (or Outlook Express on some older machines) I need to be able to get my email anywhere, which is the main appeal of IMAP folders after all. (Until recently, I even needed webmail for school, but now I’ve got that hooked up to Outlook as well!) So I’ve spent a while examining the 3 systems of Neomail, Horde and Squirrelmail.

Media Bullet was one of the first Freeview sites I ever visited. I can’t remember how long ago I subscribed to their weekly newsletter. They were simple, fast and always accurate with their news, and in the early days of Freeview there was a constant stream of new info and scoops.
Up until tonight, I ranked Media Bullet second after Digital Spy in my Freeview Links, which is still the most useful page on this site to most visitors.
Media Bullet is now closed – so thanks guys, and good luck in the future.
Highly respected blogger Joel Spolsky has a link to Google Suggest on his blog today, and I’ve changed my home page to it already. Give it a go, it’s like Google with AutoComplete built it.
Simple problem – since I’m now regularly using both IE and Firefox – how do I keep my bookmarks the same? It’s infuriating to bookmark a page in one browser and then not have it available in the next. (Hopefully Firefox will at some point be able to use Windows folders as bookmark folders and then the whole problem wouldn’t exist…)
The solution? Use SyncMarks. It’s still in beta and the most useful features are not available yet, but it’ll do for now. It can do lots of other clever synchronisation things that I’m not interested in, but what’s useful to me is that the extension automatically copies your Firefox bookmarks to your Favourites folder, so at least they are now half-in-sync! (Merged Bookmarks is on the way, fingers crossed…)
Talking of Firefox, I’ve just been very geeky and done lots of tweaking to get it almost looking and feeling exactly like IE.
