Best-TV-Show-Ever

OK, I’ll come clean, this blog just got wiped (agh!) so I’m having to retype it again. But that doesn’t change the fact Have I Got News For You is a brilliant programme, tonight with Claudia Winkleman (the wonderfully funny presenter of Liquid News before it was axed by the DOG wielding manic Stuart Murphy) and Stanley Johnson, Boris’ dad! It is hard to believe that William Hague, hosting for the second time, ran for Prime Minister only a few years ago. Ah the fate of all Tory leaders nowadays, performing Dirty Den’s lines from Eastenders. Brilliant show!

More sickeningly, Donald (Rumsfeld, not the Duck. Leave him out of this.) claimed that the photos from Iraq show abuse “but not torture.” What planet is this guy on? Oh yeah, the one with global ‘we like hot weather anyway’ warming and Guantanamo ‘they’re really scary and it’s in Cuba so it’s OK’ Bay. Can someone please just send him out to the frontlines in Iraq and let him fight for a few days?

Well, the glorious run of advert free Simpsons on BBC 2 is over. ‘Behind the Laughter’ seemed a good episode to choose, being an MTV-style spoof of the series with some great funny moments. But in a way it also emphasised the show is simply not the one I grew up watching – with those exciting Friday double bills marking the start of the weekend for years.

Goodbye Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. It’s been great fun.

Well despite the fact I’ve only had 3 days of ‘school’ this week, and despite the fact I’ve got a bucket load of homework, a weekend is a weekend and we should all cherish it.

Congratulations to the Year 9s everywhere, SATs are over and now you only have GCSES, A levels, University, a job and retirement to worry about…

In boring personal news- I got my hair cut. I always prefer it short as there is less to worry about, especially in the mornings when it refuses to straighten.

This blog has very quickly become the most popular page on this site, and has attracted new visitors from obscure search results. So howdy to you! I guess this shows people actually like it when things get updated. And talking of updating, why don’t people with broadband just install Windows Updates as second nature? ESPECIALLY at the workplace? OK, I know it’s much more of a pain than for home users, but for god’s sake, isn’t that what network admins are paid to do? Take a note, coastguard.

Advance warning – you can see it tomorrow at 6pm. After that the only place to watch The Simpsons advert free will be your DVD collection, so enjoy!

Of course, The Simpsons ain’t what it used to be anyway. IMHO, it lost its magic in season 9 onwards. Sure, it’s still a good show and fun to watch – but it feels completely different to ‘classic’ Simpsons, especially around seasons 4 and 5. The golden age. Oh well, all good things come to an end…
