You have to wear uniforms?
Is it a private or public school?
Ah cultural difference here!
In Britain most schools have uniforms, both private (which we call public schools) and ‘state schools’
So what we call private schools are public schools there.
And what we call public schools are state schools.
That makes them sound like a foster home. Do most people go to public or private schools?
LOL!
Well, public schools are often called ‘independent schools’ nowadays.
Most people go to state schools (‘comprehensives’), though there are different kinds – there are even a few grammar schools left open in some parts of the country.
grammar schools?
are those elementary schools?
Oh, so confused!
I give up.
This is more complicated than learning the French school system.
Nah – grammar schools are the remains of the old system set up after WW2. Basically, everyone did a test at 11. The top 10% went to grammar schools and then uni. Everyone else was screwed.
You can see why that system was abandonded
You said "LOL"
Less importantly, I absolutely agree, only three years in the future. But it is more like twenty minutes, what with the waiting, and the target setting, and all the Concerned Discussion.
You never had Concerned Discussion, did you?
