All hail Pingu

My Site Changes and updates to this website

Lord Pingu (long may he be blessed with igloos and things) has fixed the comment form so that email addresses are now remembered along with your name and website. Hooray!

As Nic will know (because I’ve moaned about it to him many times) my biggest gripe with Nucleus is the lack of a separate field for URLs \ Email in the comment field. Well, I’ve finally fixed it with the help of these guys which means that someone like Alex will be able to advertise their site with their comment as well as have a groovy gravatar to accompany it.

As you’d expect – your website is displayed – your email address isn’t. This caused a bit of grief this afternoon as I manually edited the MySQL tables to hide people’s email addresses they’d entered after I promised to keep them private. See how much I care about you and your spam-free inboxes, readers?

I love it when Nic redesigns his site – it always motivates me to do things like this!

Now here’s a feature for this blog that I’m not pinching off Babbleblog – Gravatars!

Read all about how they work here and then sign up for your very own at gravatar.com.

As a result of this introduction I’ve had to make some changes to the way this blog works for people commenting. Firstly, you must enter your email address if you want your gravatar to show up, but it is not required simply to post. Unlike before, it will remain completely private so you needn’t worry about spam. The option to link to your own website has now gone – sorry, but it was a long Nucleus hack to get it all working. If you’re determined to link to yourself, feel free to place it at the bottom of your posts. (NO SPAM)

Enjoy!

Emoticons \ smilies \ whatever you call them are now available to be used in posts.

Babbleblog – An endless source of good ideas to steal… (when it’s not down, that is!)

Today I decided, in a mad fit of boredom that probably indicates some form of obsessive behaviour, to validate my site with the English language along with XHTML(!) So I’ve gone over everything with a fine toothed comb (well, really a spell-checker) trying to hunt down every last mistake. Including all my old blog posts. I’ve probably missed loads, but it’s a start at least.

How was I supposed to know it’s spelt Dormouse anyway!?!

P.S. I can guess exactly what will happen now – people will gleefully point out all the mistakes remaining.

P.P.S. I ran for 12mins 45 seconds around the school in PE today. Been doing the route for ages, but this is the first time I’ve timed myself. Check back next week to see if I’ve improved or not!

P.P.P.S. Nucleus needs an inbuilt spell-checker. I’ve gone paranoid and have copied and pasted this post into Word about 15 times now.
