Google Talk
It’s clean – and basic. Very basic. But an interesting start from Google and nice to have your first chat in a new IM – ever! At the moment it’s only open to people with Gmail addresses, but those are so easy to get they really should just open it up to the masses now.
They also have a commitment to open standards to mark them out from MSN\Yahoo\AOL. Connectivity between different IM programs would certainly be a good thing – and Google may bring pressure on others to move in that direction. We’ll see…!
BBC News: Targeted guinea pig farm closes
For the sake of scientific research in this country, we need to strike harder against this form of terrorism which involves grave robbing, “hate mail, malicious phone calls, hoax bombs and arson attacks”.
‘Animal rights’ is always controversial but it should be obvious to any sane person that this kind of activity is not only deeply immoral, it’s illogical. The farm will now return to traditional farming – so animals will still die, but now it’ll just be as food instead of research into potentially life-saving medicines. The only reason people involved in research are targeted is because they’re a minority – a cowardly position if ever there was one.
Hopefully animal rights ‘activists’ will cease using any western medicine and refuse emergency treatment that may have been tested on animals. That would succeed in making them a little less active.
The hack to Nucleus to get separate URL \ e-mail fields in the comment section, implemented on this site, has been added to the CVS – open for people to test and due to go into Nucleus v3.3 (probably)
This means that Babble, Alex, Rob, El-Barto and Rubery Village will all get the benefits of this change if they upgrade. Gravatars and website links for all!
If this works, it has disturbing implictions for how quickly I could post exam results!
